Image Guidance and Intraoperative MRI
Our center is also proud to be the first Hospital in New York City to have an intraoperative MRI. Using IMRI, we can obtain images of the skull base and pituitary gland both before and after surgery while the patient is still intubated in the operating room. With IMRI capability the surgeons can see how much of the tumor has been removed at the completion of surgery in the operating room and can use computer-guided navigation to easily locate residual pieces of tumor that should be removed at the first operation.
